You can survive for a long time in Bollywood if you are “ready to please” the right people. People who matter. People who have an influence. OR
If you have a Godfather. OR

If you come from a Bollywood background.
There are numerous examples. Look at Ajay Devgan's acting skills and average looks in the movie in which he made his debut and the earlier movies that he acted in, later on. Any common man would not even have got a chance. But he kept getting movies because of his father, Veeru Devgan-an established & respected name in Bollywood. He kept improving his acting skills and his physique in all these years. Now he is fairly successful and deserves all the success. The intent is not to denigrate anyone or put anyone down. But factually speaking, I doubt if Ajay Devgan had a background which was not connected to Bollywood, he would have got so many movies, chances and people would have persevered with him in the beginning of his career.
Jacqueline's ‘barbie doll’ kind of close to perfect looks were good enough to get her a look-in in Bollywood. But to sustain her position and keep getting offers, you need to be either good in your art or please the right people. Her acting skills are ordinary. Just about average.
Her career was slowly dwindling. She came in touch with Salman Khan. If rumours are to be believed, she got real close with him. Check the gifts she received from him.
Salman Khan gifted an Audi Car and a 3 Bhk spacious flat in one of the costliest areas of Mumbai - Bandra. This was a gift. Apart from the paycheck for the movie.
In Bollywood apart from casting couch, these are verbal, non documented agreements that people have with each other. Jacqueline pleased Salman and as he is not willing to commit into a marriage or a full fledged relationship, this is how he is making up for it. By giving gifts and making sure Jacqueline gets movies.
Bollywood works on the concept of mutual consent. That is, doing things which are mutually agreed to - by people or both parties. A give and take relationship where it's a win - win situation for everyone.
